This was done in connection with the 6th International Workshop of chemistry organised by Clausthal University. A delegation of young RM Ambassadors sent by CNR in Bologna participated to this experience.

Study-visits for several groups of students were organized over the months by Wetsus at Wetterskip Fryslân in Leeuwarden (Netherlands). This factory, a municipal subdivision responsible for sewage treatment and the provision of fresh water, is involved in waste water treatments to ensure a good water level in ditches and lakes, monitor the water quality and purify the wastewater.

ECODOM (now Erion) accompanied 40 students and 12 teachers from all over Europe in a journey to discover the secrets of the WEEE world.

Throughout 2019, Wetsus accompanied about 150 students from 5 schools in the Netherlands to visit Paques B.V. Paques biotechnology helps companies to reduce fresh water intake, decrease their carbon footprints and reclaim valuable resources from waste. Major global changes make integration of water purification, sustainable energy generation and reuse of resources of growing importance.

Throughout 2019, Wetsus accompanied about 900 students from 30 schools in the Netherlands to visit Wetterskip Fryslân. Wetterskip Fryslân ensures good water levels in ditches and lakes, monitor water quality and purify waste water. The climate changes require an innovative approach to the problem and always looking for the answer to that one question: “And what do we do with water tomorrow?”

Students from CSG Ulbe van Houten visited Paques B.V., which helps industries to reduce water and carbon footprints and reclaim valuable resources. During the excursions students visited the production sight and learned more about anaerobic water purification systems and how they produce energy (biogas) from wastewater, whilst purifying the water and facilitating water reuse.

17 senior High School Pupils from the Gymnasium Ernestinum, Rinteln, Lower Saxony, accompanied by their Chemistry teacher Lisa Beermann, visited two enterprises: Electrocycling GmbH and Recylex, both in Goslar, Lower Saxony. The University offered two workshops about mechanical and chemical separations techniques, while during the visit to the factories the pupils received a detailed impression of the different process steps: manual dismantling, shredder, magnetic separator, eddy current separator and optical recognition systems.

Students from four Greek schools (Arsakeion schools, Nea Pentely elementary school, Glyfada high school and Ziridio school) visited the Gaio-Orama museum by the National Technical University of Athens. Students explored the exhibit “Color travel through time”, performed treasure hunts and activities with microscopes, and learned about the evolution of technology.

RM Ambassadors from Montanuniversität met students introducing them to diverse aspects of Raw Materials and toolkits produced through various RM funded projects from the EIT. This also included visits to special interest places, such as the Center of Science Activities (CoSa) and the Erzberg Mine. The participants were of diverse ages (12-21) and came from various school levels, such as, Primary, Secondary and Higher-level educational institutes.

14-18 yrs students from different countries of PASCH-Courses took part in a Recycling Workshop in Clausthal-Zellerfeld (Germany) and visited the local Mining Museum Bergbaumuseum Deutschlands in Clausthal-Zellerfeld (August, 9 and 23, 2017). They comment about recycling of raw materials and compare with what occurs in their own countries.
