About RM@Schools

The RM@Schools project started in 2016 and since 2017 runs under the umbrella of RawMaterials Accademy. Raw MatTERS Ambassadors at Schools is a Wider Society Learning project focused on an innovative program to make science education and careers in raw materials attractive for youngster. In our name, “Raw MatTERS”, our message resonates: raw materials are our key focus, whatever their origin. Tackling European Resources Sustainably (TERS). We want to actively tackle the challenge ahead of us. Sustainability and the efficient use of all natural resources are of central importance in everything we do. Achieving this vision really matters to us.

The Raw Matters Ambassadors at Schools (RM@Schools) consortium includes scientific organisations from European countries with expertise in the fields of raw materials and education. The consortium works to develop cooperation between the three sides of the knowledge triangle: research, education, and business in order to introduce students to issues around the value of raw materials while promoting new professional careers in this sector. A network of research institutes, museums and companies work together to create attractive activities for secondary schools. An active learning approach is encouraged by involving students in hands-on experiments using raw materials-related educational toolkits and by letting them create their own communications afterwards. The toolkits have been developed by the consortium’s experts, in some cases in collaboration with students who developed the lab activities. RM@Schools was established in 2016 and became the flagship project in the Wider Society Learning segment of EIT RawMaterials in 2018. It is led by National Research Council of Italy (CNR) in collaboration with partners across Europe and engages industry, research and education to advance knowledge on raw materials in Europe.
