Geology in School

RM Ambassador Rok Brajkovič from the Geological Survey of Slovenia held a lecture for the Natural Science Society of Slovenia about the inclusion of geological topics in formal educational system in Slovenia. In the lecture he presented the growing need for general geological knowledge in society. As we are faced with a ever growing economy, climate change, and environmental problems, global society’s decision-making often confronts issues that require a thorough understanding of basic geological concepts to resolve. Due to the relatively sparse teaching of geological content in formal education, the level of education about our planet lags behind the needs. Additionally, he presented the vision of the RM@Schools project, newly designed innovative learning materials that are suitable for direct transfer into practice and RM@Schools learning pathway.
